RG-Max

by Chris Ritchason and Patricia Keplinger RN BSN

We have received some great information and wanted to give you a sneak preview. As you will see, the addition of the amino acid l-Citrulline to the existing RG-Max formula, takes a great product and puts it over the top.

In addition, each container of the New and Improved RG MAX will contain 30 servings, instead of 20! There will be a small increase in price, but please take our word for it, this product will be more than worth the slight increase in cost!

L-Citrulline defined

L-Citrulline / Citrulline is an amino acid that supports the body in optimizing blood flow through its conversion to L-arginine and then nitric oxide that will be added to the NSP RG-MAX. Nitric oxide is involved in vasodilatation, and low levels are associated with mental and physical fatigue and sexual dysfunction.

Citrulline, which is considered a non-essential amino acid synthesized in the intestinal tract from Glutamine, converts to Arginine in the endothelial cells. This biochemical process involves L-Aspartate and the enzymes Argininosuccinate Synthetase and Argininosuccinate Lyase, in the presence of ATP. Arginine is important for Nitric Oxide production for cardiovascular health; however, most Arginine is utilized in the liver and kidneys, and only a fraction is available for this purpose
. Since Citrulline is a precursor to Arginine, it allows for increased and sustained Nitric Oxide production in the endothelium for support of circulatory function.

Oral Citrulline supplementation provides a readily available source of Citrulline for this purpose, and some recent research further indicates that Citrulline may be the preferred source of cellular Arginine. In addition Citrulline may also increase energy, stimulates the immune system, and is essential for Urea Cycle function as well.

A little more about l-Arginine

L-Arginine is essential to several systems in the body. Among its many roles, L-Arginine: Is a precursor of nitric oxide (NO); Promotes circulation resulting in improved blood flow; Stimulates the release of growth hormone; Improves immune function; Reduces healing time of injuries; Plays a role in the formation of bone and tendons; Increases muscle mass, while reducing body fat; Supports male fertility, improving sperm production and motility; Reduces risk of blood clots and stroke; Supports normal blood pressure; Improves vascular function for patients with angina; Helps recovery after heart attack; Helps prevent and treat cardiovascular disease; [and] Helps reduce growth of cancerous tumors (1).

There is also evidence that supports L-Arginine is effective in l-Arginine has been shown to have positive impacts on immune function, obesity concerns, human sexuality, and aging. As an adaptogen, l-Arginine helps the body adapt to changes in life, the environment, and may increase stamina and sports performance (2).

Columbia University researchers have collected more than 10,000 citations, and have nicknamed L-Arginine the Magic Bullet in human health. This university integrates teaching on this amino acid and its benefits into its curriculum for physicians and surgeons (3).

Twenty years ago, the idea that a simple and humble amino acid could change the face of medicine would have been dismissed. Now, physicians, researchers, and scientists are embracing the effectiveness of L-Arginine and its use has become mainstream (4).

CLINICAL STUDIES

There are a plethora of clinical studies available on the l-Arginine. The primary topics we have compiled include: Endothelial Dysfunction: Management of Cardiovascular Diseases; Peripheral Vascular Disease; Hypertension; LDL Cholesterol; Erectile Dysfunction; Pulmonary Vascular Structural Remodeling and Coronary Circulation; Sickle Cell Disease; Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial; Cerebra l Blood Flow; and Necrotizing Entercolitis.

A variety of these topics were discussed in the initial RG-MAX eflash last fall and can be viewed by clicking on the following link:
