Advancing with Meditation
In this course, we will be deepening our understanding and practice of yoga meditation with more advanced methods for working with the energy body and mind. We will study the theory of mantra, the use of a mala in mantra japa, and the benefits of a regular pranayama (breathing) practice. We will also explore the techniques for Bhuta Shuddhi (chakra cleansing) and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep).
$45 for the 4 weeks or $15 drop-in per session
Week #1: Sept. 21 - The Yamas and Niyamas, Shaping a Yogic Mind and Lifestyle
Week #2: Sept. 28 - Mantra Japa, using a mala
Week #3: Oct. 5 - Bhuta Shuddhi, the process of chakra cleansing
Week#4: Oct. 12 - Yoga Nidra, deep relaxation & yogic sleep

Tracy Draksic, M.A.
Tracy began her formal study of yoga at the Himalayan Institute in 1998. After many years of hatha yoga practice, she began expanding her interests into yoga philosophy & psychology, meditation, and Sanskrit. She completed the Institute’s teacher training program and became a certified instructor in 2010. Many opportunities followed for further teacher education in Toronto, Hamilton, and Honesdale, PA. Tracy currently teaches at the Himalayan Institute of Buffalo and Rising Sun Yoga in Amherst. She received a B.A. in French Literature from Wells College and an M.A. in Linguistics from SUNY Buffalo. She teaches Sanskrit both as a course and in Yoga Teacher Training Programs.
